Insect Bite...


Insects like flies, mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, spiders etc. transmit many diseases. Disease carrying mosquitoes are most active at dusk & evening. Personal protective measures are necessary to reduce risks of bites & stings.
 
- Wear full-sleeve shirts and long or fullength pants or dresses.
- Sleep inside mosquito nets or air conditioned rooms.
- Spray pyrethrum insecticide in your room before bedtime to kill flying insects hiding during daytime.
- Insect repellants can be applied (containing 30% DEET (N, N-diethyl-metalolnamide) to exposed skin in morning & evening.
- In addition to insect repellants you can take a vitamin B-1 (100 mg. Tablet) as it is an effective insect repellant for some people.
- Avoid wearing colognes & perfume sprays.


Malaria Chomeprophylaxis (Preventative Medications)


- It is transmitted by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito, which tends to feed between dusk and dawn.
- Most cases of malaria can be prevented through the use of medications which prevent the parasite from establishing an infection in human red blood cells.


Dengu Fever

Dengu fever is a viral infection which spreads by the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. Especially during the rainy season these mosquitoes are active both in urban & rural areas. They are most active in early morning & late afternoon.


Dengu hemorrhagic fever 

This severe form of dengu may occur in people infected with one strain of dengu virus & subsequently infected by a different strain. This progress to spontaneous bleeding, shock & death.
 
- There is no vaccine against dengu, it is important & necessary to follow insect precautions.
