Shorter Duration Programmes
: Managers for leadership course This is for 12 private sector managers on a 10-week programme at the University of Leeds - a mix of academic sessions and individual practical attachments with British companies. This has been formulated in collaboration with an Indian trade and management consortium comprising AIMA, ASSOCHAM, CII and FICCI. Programme for young Indian journalists : This is for 12 journalists from the Indian press, on a three-month programme at the University of Westminster, comprising a mix of academic training and practical attachments with British media organisations. Programme for young Indian lawyers : This is for 12 corporate lawyers from India on a three-month programme: six weeks at the College of Law, York, followed by six weeks of attachments with firms of solicitors in London. Programme for young Indian bankers : This is for 12 banking professionals from India on a three-month programme, comprising academic inputs provided at the London School of Economics and Political Science, followed by work attachments with London banks and financial institutions. Programme for young Indian broadcast journalists : This is for 8 experienced broadcast journalists from television and radio to participate in Thomson Foundation's annual three-month course in news and current affairs broadcasting, based in Cardiff. Wolfson College Press Fellowship Programme : A programme for established journalists to undertake a three-month project at Wolfson College, Cambridge University. Manchester Business School's Senior Executive Course : This is for senior private sector managers to attend a four-week strategic management programme. Gurukul Scholarships in Leadership and Excellence : A programme for senior persons from various disciplines who have demonstrated their leadership and excellence in their area of work, to attend a 12-week programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science. |

Supporting this new initiative, 60 universities and colleges with particular interests in India, have come together for the first time, to create a new under-graduate and vocational scholarships scheme for India. In addition to this, other elements of the new global initiative include measures to : - make it easier for international students to study and work in the UK - simplify visa procedures - expand the number of post-graduate scholarships available - equip all students with greater information to simplify their choices and speed their applications and a acceptance process |
