Financial Aid : India runs the largest foreign and commonwealth office-funded British Chevening Scholarships Programme globally, with an annual budget of £1.3 million, funding 120 new scholarships each year. The scholarships are aimed at promoting dynamic young men and women, who, while following their academic and professional training in Britain, are likely to contribute to India's social economic and scientific development. New training programmes have recently been introduced specifically for young managers, young print and broadcast journalists, young environment managers and young corporate lawyers and young bankers, combining academic study with practical attachments to the UK industry and professions. In addition to this, the council also manages various other shared scholarships. Among these are shared scholarships with the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Leicester, Warwick, Hull, Strathclyde, Imperial College, LSE. Others include scholarships in Human Rights at Essex, Nottingham and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies and one in the Manchester Business School's senior executive course. |

The Scholarships and Alumni Section publicises the various Chevening schemes, shortlists candidates, conducts interviews to select scholars and helps arrange their programmes in Britain.
