About Us :
The Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur is one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges established in the country by the Government of India. It was established in the year 1963 with a provision to start Bachelor of Engineering Programme in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Metallurgical Engineering. Today, the number of branches has increased and the institute offers various PG Courses also.
The College is affiliated to the University of Rajasthan for the purpose of examinations and the award of degrees.
 

Aims & Objectives :
The College was set up with the objective to provide facilities for higher education, research and training in various areas of engineering and technology. Since its inception the College is committed to the cause of technical upgradation of the State in particular and of the Country in general.

Location :
The College is located on the Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, in a campus amidst beautiful surroundings with forest-parks, public parks and hillocks. Most of the research and training centers and the institution for higher learning are located within a distance of 5 Kms. from the College.
The main Railway Station and Bus Stand are approximately 11 Kms. away from College and Airport is about 5 Kms. away.
 
 

The Campus :
The campus of the College is spread over an area of 417 acres. It presents a spectacle of harmony in modern architecture, natural beauty and picturesque surroundings.
The campus is well laid out with roads, electrical installations, water supply and underground drainage system etc. There is a branch of The Bank of Rajasthan Limited and a Post-Office in the campus. A full-fledged Dispensary is also available in the campus.
 
About The Courses :
At present, the College offers 4 year undergraduate courses of study leading to the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering and 5 year Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Four other teaching departments namely Department of Chemistry, Humanities, Mathematics and Physics are actively engaged with the overall development of the College. The College also offers full time/Part time postgraduate courses in Engineering leading to the degree of Master of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Non-ferrous Metallurgy and CAD in Structural Engineering. Facilities for research work leading to the Doctorate level are also available in various departments of the College.
In addition to these, the College also has established a Centre for Management Studies offering Post Graduate Course and Industrial Collaboration which encourages industry-institute interaction.

Admission to B.E./B. Arch. Courses :
The total intake at first year B.E./B.Arch. level is 378. 50% seats are filled from Rajasthan state and 50% seats from other parts of the country. 18 seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals.
Seats allotted to Rajasthan State are filled through a centralised state level committee through common PRE ENGINEERING TEST (PET) conducted by Malaviya Regional Engineering College.
 
Qualifications :
Candidates seeking admission to Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur or other Regional Engineering Colleges will be eligible for admission only if they have passed the qualifying examination from a College/school located in the state of Rajasthan. 
The candidate must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (Science) conducted by a Statutory Board at the end of 12 year (10+2) with physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects or any other examination recognised equivalent or higher thereto.
He/She have to obtain at least 33% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics each at the Pre Engineering Test to qualify for admission to B.E./B.Arch. Course subject to availability of seats. However, in case of SC and ST candidates this condition of 33% in each paper will be relaxed by 5% in each paper, if adequate number of SC/ST candidates are not available. If ever after this relaxation, SC/ST vacancies exist, they will be filled by either of these categories.
A candidate appearing in PET should be between 17-23 years of age and also should not be more then 23 years of age as on 1st October. Upper age limit shall be relaxed by 3 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST.
 

Office of Training and Placemet :
The students of this College are required to undergo Practical Training for a total period of 90 days in 2-3 spells after II year and III year.
The Practical Training plays a vital role in providing practical knowledge to the students for what they have learnt in their theory clases. It has been observed that such training helps a great deal in finding a good placement in Industries.
The section also invites various organisations to hold campus interview for selection of the students from out of the various disciplines.
The Viva-Voce examination on the Practical Training is conducted by a Board of Examiners appointed by the University of Rajasthan.
 
Hostel :
At present, there are six regular Boys' Hostels and two regular Girls' Hostel. There is one temporary hostel too for undergraduate students. The regular hostels can accommodate 1098 male and 218 female students. For effective management of the hostels & attached messes, there is a team of 14 wardens, headed by Chief Warden, besides other hostel staff.
 

Other Details :
Excellent infra-structural facilities for practicals and research work are available in the College. The Library, Computer Centre and Design Centre of the College are excellent.
 
Library :
The library of any institute can be said to be its heart. The College has a very spacious and well equipped library which is being run according to an open access system. It has a rich collection of about 1.2 lac volumes of books, periodicals, reports and reference material.
 
Dispensary :
This College has the facility for medical check-up and treatment of the staff and the students. College dispensary is provided in the campus. Dispensary is manned by a full time residential Medical Officer.
 
Canteen :
A Canteen near the instructional zone and one near the hostels provides facilities to the students and the staff during and beyond the working hours.
